Should Your Dog Be Your Best Man?

Should Your Dog Be Your Best Man? How to Include Pets in Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the most important moments of your life — so of course you want to share it with your most loyal companion… even if they walk on four legs, shed a little, and think sticks are gifts.

From dapper ring bearers to tail-wagging best men, pets are becoming a heartfelt part of modern weddings — and we’re here for it. But before you hand over the rings to your pup or let your cat strut the aisle, here are a few things to keep in mind to make the day special and stress-free for everyone.

🐢 1. Make Sure Your Pet is Ceremony-Ready

Not all pets are born to be in the spotlight. Ask yourself:

  • Is my pet calm around large crowds?
  • Can they walk down the aisle without panicking or running off?
  • Will loud music or clapping stress them out?

If your pet is high-strung or nervous, it’s totally okay to celebrate them in other ways (like wedding photos or a signature cocktail named after them!).

πŸŽ“ 2. Practice Makes Perfect

Rehearse with your pet just like you would with your bridal party.

  • Walk them down the aisle on leash a few times before the big day.
  • Let them sniff the space and get used to the setting.
  • Use treats and positive reinforcement to reward calm behavior.

If they’re bringing the rings, attach them securely to a small pillow, collar, or harness — just make sure there’s a backup plan!

πŸ’ 3. Dress Them (Comfortably!)

Yes, your dog can totally rock a bowtie or mini tux — but comfort comes first. Avoid anything too tight, warm, or itchy. A floral collar, bandana, or personalized leash might be a simpler (and cuter) option.

πŸ›‹️ 4. Create a Chill Zone for Downtime

Once their big moment is done, your pet will need a quiet place to relax.

  • Designate a shaded area or quiet room.
  • Ask a trusted pet-loving guest or sitter to be their handler for the day.
  • Provide water, treats, and a favorite toy or blanket.

Bonus: Include your pet in a few portraits, then let them nap while the rest of the party carries on.

πŸ“· 5. Can’t Bring Them? Still Include Them!

If your venue doesn’t allow pets or your furry friend isn’t suited for the crowd, there are still sweet ways to honor them:

  • Add a photo charm to your bouquet or boutonniere
  • Feature their likeness on the cake or cake topper
  • Name a drink after them (“The Barkarita” anyone?)
  • Include them in your stationery or signage

Including your pet in your wedding can be adorable, memorable, and deeply meaningful — just make sure it’s right for them. With thoughtful planning, calm energy, and a bit of backup, your furry best friend can absolutely be part of your big day.

“Dollar Store Wedding Magic: Beautiful Bouquets and Centerpieces on a Budge

Weddings are beautiful—but they can also be expensive, especially when it comes to floral arrangements. But what if I told you that you could create stunning bouquets and centerpieces for a fraction of the price? Yes, we’re talking dollar store flowers and vases! Let’s break down how you can create magic without maxing out your budget.  Why Dollar Store Flowers? Fresh flowers are gorgeous, but they also come with a high price tag and a short shelf life. Faux florals from the dollar store have come a long way. Many now have a soft, realistic look—especially when arranged thoughtfully and paired with greenery.  How to Make Dollar Store Flowers Look Expensive: 1. Mix and match colors and sizes: Choose a cohesive color palette—blush, ivory, greenery, and maybe a few pops of gold or dusty rose. 2. Add texture: Look for floral picks like baby’s breath, eucalyptus, or ferns to add fullness and dimension. 3. Cut and shape: Trim stems to different lengths, fluff petals, and bend...

Wedding Favors Worth Keeping (and Skipping)

Wedding favors are a sweet gesture—a way to say “thank you” to your guests. But let’s be honest: how many of those favors actually make it home, let alone get used? If you’re on a budget (or simply don’t want your tokens of appreciation tossed in a drawer), it’s time to rethink the favor game. Here’s what guests actually want—and what they’ll likely leave behind.  Wedding Favors Worth Keeping 1. Edible Treats Cookies, mini jars of honey, locally made jams, or custom tea blends are budget-friendly and always appreciated. Bonus points if you DIY them or buy in bulk! 2. Mini Plants or Succulents A little greenery goes a long way. Tiny succulents in dollar store pots are adorable, affordable, and memorable. 3. Personalized Drink Coasters Instead of your names and wedding date plastered everywhere, try a meaningful quote or cute saying. Guests are more likely to reuse them that way. 4. Spice or Seasoning Jars Think “Love is the spice of life.” Little jars of BBQ rubs, cinnamon su...
